Maya Simmons received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and her Master's degree in Business Administration, both summa cum laude, from Florida A&M University in May 2005. During her tenure at Florida A&M, Ms. Simmons interned with several Fortune 500 companies including Southern Company – Georgia Power, Procter & Gamble, Ernst and Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Ms. Simmons was very active on campus and served in many capacities including serving as the Chief Justice of the Student Supreme Court and as a member of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in December 2007. While attending the University of Michigan, Ms. Simmons was also active serving, for example, as the President of the Black Law Students Alliance and the Founder of the Business Card Initiative.  During her last semester of law school, Ms. Simmons externed at the South African Human Rights Commission in Cape Town, ZA.

After working as a litigation associate in one of Atlanta’s large law firms, Ms. Simmons now handles a broad range of transactional and litigation cases. Ms. Simmons is licensed and admitted to practice in all Georgia State and Superior Courts, as well as the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court.  She is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
